Frankly I think you are overreacting, from what i've seen from developing there is little to no ways to actually store facebook users information without jumping through some major hoops and using a lot of processing power. It's not out of the question, but trying to raise a stir about silly things on a blog wouldn't help the cause much...

While I may be overreacting, there aren't major hoops to jump through to receive user data. I know this given that I've developed an app of my own already.

No ... seriously I didn't collect anything except the people's user id. If i really wanted to I had easy access to all their profile info except for their email address.
