Libel and slander laws in the UK are a completely different animal than over here. The court's decision was completely within the law in that country.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The damages had nothing to do with Facebook. They were awarded in accordance with a long line of British case law, which in fact does extend to the online space, whether you think it should or not.
