I'm guessing everyone will hate it for about a week, since its *change* and most Facebookers seems to hate that. But, I doubt we'll see any substantial migration.
(1) The two oldest postings on my old Wall do not appear on my new Wall.
(2) iLike appears in the left-hand column on my Wall and Info tabs, but I don't know why.
[I have since changed it so that iLike only appears in my Boxes tab, but I still don't know why some apps can appear in my Wall and Info tabs and others can not.]
(3) I can't control which photo album contents are displayed in the Wall entry.
(4) I can't collapse applications.
(5) When I add a Wall posting, it is initially displayed under the wrong date heading.
[This might have been fixed.]
(6) After editing a note, the links in the blue bar no longer work.
[This might have been fixed.]
(7) The timestamps on Wall postings are in the wrong time zone (Azores!).
[This was fixed, except that comments on my Wall appear to be in Pacific time, whereas my posts appear in Eastern time.]
(8) I'd like the ability to add a comment to ANY Wall item, which should also be optionally added as a comment in the publishing application.
(9) I don't think it's a very good idea for my friends' comments (e.g., attached to my status updates) to appear in the news feeds of my friends. I don't see any option to control that.
(10) News Feed items can be grossly out of order, making it very easy to miss new items.
(11) When you navigate to a profile from the "Recently Updated" friends view, the updated items are no longer highlighted.
(12) There is no visual cue that applications in the Boxes tab can be reordered (via drag and drop).
(13) The Notes Settings box on my Notes page says "Only people tagged in my notes and I can see my notes" even though the Privacy page says "Who can see your Notes? Only Friends."
(14) The Friends and Inbox buttons in the blue bar should be drop-down menus, like they used to be.
(15) I still prefer having separate Mini-Feed and Wall, both visible simultaneously.
I havent had any visual issues with the new layout since they started rolling it out (there were some issues before the official rollout, but that doesnt count), but you can tell its not a finished product and that theyre building and fixing it in-flight... currently the most annoying for me is the "public" link for photo galleries and individual photos... it doesnt work for people who arent logged in / dont have a facebook account... but if you drop the "new." from the URL, it works (in the old layout)... but i'm sure its just a matter of days before they fix it
There are a few little things that I don't like, especially the fact that it takes more clicks/time to access the Recently Added Friends page, as there used to be a link to it in the Friends pull-down. But the combination of the Mini-Feed and Wall was a great idea, especially as Facebook attempts to compete with FriendFeed.
Navigating the menus & tabs is easy & logical & although I'm sure many will complain once they get used to it I think they'll find it easier.
And today I noticed that the minifeed now ALWAYS shows timestamps! I had very intentionally unchecked that option in privacy settings; I don't want people knowing the exact times I do things. Come on. But there's no longer an option to turn that off!! VERY NOT GOOD
The problem with the public, the problem with people who don't "develop" anything, is they expect things to work - even in BETA tests. It's ridiculous. Things won't work in the BETA, but you knew that before you started using it.
It's good when people find bugs and report them in a nice manner. It's annoying when people MOAN about it.
I love the new FB, I think it's very much providing what we expect from Facebook - a modern, more mature social networking website.
I do ask people though, that are constantly moaning about issues, stop MOANING about them and SUGGEST that they are changed. It's a test, no-one forced you to "test" this development.
The reason why some apps can't be placed in the "Wall" or "Info" tabs is because the application developer hasn't updated thier app to take advantage of this new feature yet.
It isn't Facebook's fault, it is the app developer's...
I LOVE the new profiles, although there does need to be some UI tweaks to make it look a lil bit better & less cluttered with the ads down the right hand side.
In Canada we get the option of choosing between the two.
Any Application developers going crazy over the FB update?!?
We are in the midst of launching 2 new Apps and are having a lot of trouble. Why would FB launch without the proper documentation and support for developers?
I'd say I'll be happy when things settle down, but then we'll be stuck with the new design, which I really don't like. It adds more mouse movements to finding someone's information at a glance, and it looks really clunky, with stuff somewhat haphazardly placed on the page. The only thing I'd want on a separate page would be, maybe, application boxes...
