AllFacebook: Where’s the Facebook Browser?

  • countstex · 1 year ago
"This is why Google released Chrome and has standalone windows that are dedicated specifically to web-based applications that you leave running, such as Gmail. "

Call me cynical, but this feature of Chrome.. is it not just like opening a website from a shortcut on the desktop in a browser before we had tabbed browsing ?
I'm blinkering my view a little I know...

As for browser there is no revenue, simply no point investing their programming brilliance, facebook should continue what they are good at.

I disagree. I don't think we need any more web browsers in the world. I won't be using Chrome because until people begin developing for it and i can have all my plugins that i have in firefox, it isn't any better. Facebook's hedgehog is that it does social networking well. I sit at 3 different computers within a day, and i don't need to have to worry about them being different. Facebook allows me access to everything from anywhere because it is strictly on the web. If you want extra access from your browser use the facebook toolbar.

We don't need more web browsers. What we need is a web-based OS and Internet providers who are held accountable for the uptime of their networks.

Ike blew into Ohio and left about 300,000 people without power, probably more without Internet. Nobody seems to care that Time Warner/Roadrunner has become the sole source of not only business applications that are web-based but critical information and communication systems like telephones. Nobody really knows what is going on here and what Dayton power and Light is doing (or Time Warner)

So, until Time Warner, Cox, Comcast, etc take their role seriously and can be held to standards higher than playtime at a kindergarten, quit saying things like "While it’s great to dream of the day where we open up our computer and know that it’s only a terminal to my remote computer"

I don't agree with sacornwell. We do need the web browser for better speed and better quality of browsing. If the search engine biggies like google has started making their own browser, it will only benefit us. As far as mozilla is concern against chrome, it simply doesn't stand anywhere.
    Google chrome is the best.
