You Won’t Win Friends With “Facebook Friend Bomber”

Started by Nick O'Neill · 10 months ago

Last night I was browsing the web and came upon a post advertising mass Facebook friend adding. I had to check it out because God knows that I want 10,000 friends on Facebook that I don’t even know. Well you are actually limited to 5,000 friends on Facebook currently but I definitely ... Continue reading »

  • This is ludicrous.

LOL...why would you add friends that you don't even know, and put yourself at risk of getting your account disabled.

I agree with you Nick...Stupid waste of money
  • Oh gawd, what a bunch of croc! Sadly, I think this is just the beginning of a slew of crappy products like this that scores of gullible people - with more credit on their credit card than sense - will actually purchase. Tragic.

I dug around to find who's behind this thing: Knox Crosdale (with a mere 53 FB friends) who calls himself Doc Hollywood. Sorry to see he also has a bunch of other similar products.

The whole "mass" thing takes away the purpose and intent of social media - to build relationships... real ones, not pseudo ones with complete strangers. Ah, hello? It's called spam.

(I did watch one of the sample videos and was amused to see the disclaimer at the bottom: "Important: Stealth Friend Bomber is intended only as an automated way of promoting yourself or band. In no way should it be used for spam." Hmmm.
  • How true. Aside from the sad fact that this app will lure plenty of gullible fools (thank God it's marked down from its original price of $87!) the real value is FB is the huge benefit to be gained by the slow, methodical, and personal acquisition of real friends on the platform.
  • Someone dumb enough to buy this despite all the signals that this is not serious in the add defiitely deserves to be banned.
  • Here's what I think. The bots are not the problem. It's the people who use them. These people that spam with bots have no concept of what true viral marketing and social networking is. There is no way I will accept or acknowledge a friend request from anyone who is going to pitch to me penis enlargement supplements, free ipods, and etc. It just lets me know how much marketing savy they have. No matter how it is delivered, if manually or by bot, its still SPAM and I hate that! Now if I was into snowboarding or scuba diving and someone asked for a friend request saying " hey look I saw your profile,I snowboard also. In fact, I snowboard every winter, I go with a group of friends and we rent out this cabin with a champagne jacuzzi in each room. We get wasted after hitting the half pipes all day and just have a good time while we are out there. I saw you were into snowboarding also. I would like to add you into my circle of snowboarding friends online, is that cool?" Now I can target snowboarders online and send that out to all of them. Is it spam? I don't think so because I'm striking a conversation with the person and not pitching a product or a message. Please correct me if I'm wrong on this. I'm only acknowledging a shared and enjoyed interest in snowboarding. If I did this with 50 snowboarders manually or with a bot, what difference would it make. I'm connecting with an individual and not trying to shove a message down their throat. Personally I can't use bots at my workplace because they are strict with what we can download into the work computers. However if they would let us, I would use it that way. Please tell me your thoughts.
  • Yeah, but what about all those FaceBookers that need Viagra? Isn't anyone concerned with their well-being?

You gotta love the concept of a social network where you haven't a clue of who the people in your network are.
  • I think this is a great product. What is "SPAM" actually? other than canned meat that most people love. We all get spammed every Day.

When I'm driving on the highway I past a million Billboard Ads "SPAM"

When I'm Watching T.V. I get bombarded with TV ADS "SPAM"

Don't even mention browsing the internet, every page I visit has related advertising "SPAM"

When I'm Listening the radio, there are tons of advertising "SPAM"

Look at even this very blog i'm bombarded with Spam, I did not come here to look at those ads. I came to hear about friend bomber, but now I have to give up my email so that I can leave a comment. Does anyone know why they need my email? I have one short answer....."SPAM".

Duh.. If you are not a business or band and are not trying to reach the masses to promote yourself. Don't buy Durrr...

However, if you are a business or a band and are trying to promote yourself or your product or service, Hurry up and buy the thing.....durrr.

Right now Coca-Cola, the world's largest bottling company has an advertising "Spam" budget of 10 million dollars, Theyre so stupid...
  • you definitely underestimate the needs of people marketing via social networks.

Even better, you're blog entry lead me right to what I needed.
  • A friend of ours used a similar program to this and was able to add over 2000 people in only a couple of days.

The account remained active for 5 months and then was banned..

Maybe moderation is the key if you choose to use this.
